June 27-29, 2010. Dear ACT Members: For those of you who did not go to the conference, this is a great recap by Samira. Please read it and keep it as resource. This is the newest information on the radical Islamist's front. A big thanks to Samira. -RM Summary of the ACT conference held in Alexandria, VA. June 27-29, 2010. Brigitte Gabriel's opening address presented the following information: Because of radical Islam, there are conflicts in 44 countries as well as attacks by radicals in 1979,1983,1993,2001. In 12 months 55 homegrown terrorists have been arrested. It is now possible to get into extremist chatrooms that were heretofore in Arabic but are now in English. Ikhwan (Muslim Brotherhood) was launched in Egypt as an answer to the end of the Islamic Empire in Turkey as a result of Ataturk secularizing the Ottomans. From the Ikhwan there are now 70 off shoots including Al Qaida and Hamas. Terrorist organizations have encouraged immigration to the west, especially the U.S. by marriage shams, and drug cartels that work with Al Qaida. The Mexican Embassy in Beirut sells visas to Hisballah for $3000. Once in Mexico, they can buy Mexican passports so that coming across the border is easier. There are special schools in Venezuela that teach Spanish to the terrorist (only few border patrol agents recognize the Arabic/Spanish accent). A hotel in NY owned by a Turk boards Arab women so that they give birth to anchor babies. A careful window of opportunity for this is the last 2 weeks of the 8th month of pregnancy. Fortunately, the FBI recently broke a ring of 26 women that were here to give birth. All of this information is on Islamic websites. (You may see Brigitte's one hour Denver presentation on www.religionofpeace.com Presentation by James Woolsey, "Spies, Energy and the New World of the 21st Century": There are 2 aspects of this war on Terror: Totalitarian movement rooted in extremism and violent ideology is what we must contend with. In the 20th century, we defeated 5 major empires and only Japan had religious underpinnings, the others were secular totalitarians. After WWII, we had 20 democracies and now have 120. Today, totalitarianism comes from a major religious power and we have difficulty in how to manage a movement from a religious base. Secondly, our major problem is that Saudis control 90% of Islamic instruction including schools, especially the heavy funding of Islamic studies in major universities. Of course, these are funded by our $1 billion per day borrowing for oil. Visiting Imams come here on diplomatic passports and often overstay. Our government has been infiltrated by Jihadist sympathizers under our very noses. Furthermore, our dollars finance the training of boys to become suicide bombers. Regarding energy: 2% of our electricity comes from oil, so nuclear power won't do much. OPEC has volume, low cost production and will control the market even if we drill. We need to concentrate on steps compatible with existing vehicle and usage by the use of natural gas, an open fuel standard that 80% of new vehicles run on any mixture of fuels such as methanol. We must have new development in electronics to reduce fuel requirements and give cars more mpg by modification. These are steps that can be done relatively quickly with existing infrastructure so that in 10 years we will have a large decrease for the need of oil. Brazil went to flexible fuel in less than 2 years. Regarding Iran: they can have a deliverable weapon within 2 years (per CIA). Israel thinks in one year. Force from the air can only come from Israel and the U.S. Israel has a very small air force but is very good. A nuclear weapon in Iran will endanger the whole world, as it will ultimately get into the hands of the terrorists. Read the booklet (45 pages) "Shari'a Law for Non Muslims"which can be obtained from www.politicalislam.com or www.cspipublishing.com Presentation by Andrew McCarthy, former federal prosecutor led the prosecution against Sheikh Rahman in N.Y. "Civilian Courts and the War on Terrorism": The role of the courts in terrorism is different today than after WWII. The writ of habeas corpus is the centerpiece of courts today which is why we cannot allow judges to run National Security. In 1942, 8 German saboteurs sent by Hitler came here to commit acts of terrorism. FBI got into the plot and captured them. FDR needed to make an example of them and designated them as enemy combatants and were ordered to be tried by military commission within 2 weeks of capture (one was an American citizen Ernest Haupt). 6 of the 8 were executed within 7 weeks of the trial. We cannot have judicial managing our security and micro manage the executive branch. FISA (foreign intelligence surveylence act) must maintain separation of powers and hold accountable issues between elected officials and the people and can vote them out if necessary. Unfortunately, we have shifted and ceded control to officials we cannot touch (Judiciary) who are unaccountable and increase the rights to the enemy. Because national security is not the job of the federal judge, it is to receive due process. Over time, more rights are given out and the gov't has to prove the validity of detaining someone. For this reason, we need to move to military proceedings rather than civilian courts. From 1993-2001 we were able to take down 29 terrorists after being attacked about once per year. In June 1998, Osama ben Laden was indicted including Al Zawahiri. War-time attacks or enemy combatants are what we want to be tried in military courts and we must make the Justice Department appropriate for wartime. A 1996 counter terrorism overhaul increased the penalty for terrorism. It is important to get into cells before they get momentum, as prevention rather than reaction is ideal. Enemy combatants is defined by the life of the state is threatened. Historicall been used since George Washington. If tried in civil court, sensitive information will need to be turned over to our enemies. We take the worst of the worst and reward them for their atrocities by trying the in a civil court. We must recognize the enemy and name it. There are many moderate Muslims, but the doctrine is not moderate. The first rule of common sense to defend ourselves against the enemy is to name the enemy in order to win. The problem is that ideology travels under the visor of religion. Does that mean that Shari'a finance is legitimate to accommodate in our law through religious code? Presentation by Sue Myrick was a CIA agent for 12 years: The constitution is the bedrock of who we are as a country and we have a duty to stay informed as the electorate and know who our enemy is, radical Islam is irreconcilable with our Judeo-Christian values. Radicals have learned how to "pull our chain" and to work from within. Sky scrapers are offensive to them, our advantages are that we assimilate people from other countries, where other countries have enclaves, it makes it difficult to know who is going to attack us. We depend on the gov''t to protect us and need a new system to get intelligence information in order to arrest perpetrators. Because of the difference between FBI (gather intelligence) and police (who arrest and put in jail) we have ambiguity, indecisiveness and incompetence. There is incoherence when it comes to Gitmo because it is not what they say it is. The reality is that it is a good facility and the world sees it as a torture chamber. We have the world's most powerful and efficient military in the world and because of Title 10, we cannot send military if we find Osama until we get the OK from Pakistan! Presentation by Paul Sperry: CAIR corp office is 3 blocks away from the Capitol and claims it is a civil rights advocacy group when its true agenda is to Islamize America. It claims a membership of 50,000 when in reality it has about 5,133 members. CAIR has infiltrators in ABC, NY Times and AP. It claims a Muslim population in the U.S. of 7 million in order to sway politicians, when the reality is more like 2.3 million. It claims the 7 million to match the Jewish count. CAIR pretends they are patriotic and plan subversion with straightforward lies. Of the 2,300 mosques in the U.S. 75-80% are radicalized with brotherhood leadership. Our local representatives need to be pressured about CAIR filing tax returns which they have not done since 1996 and still maintain tax exempt status. They get foreign money and do not disclose where they get it. Saudi prince Ben Talal bankrolls CAIR and now owns 10% of Fox News. The media encourages CAIR by giving them a forum. June 29th Legislative Briefing Capitol Hill: Sue Myrick, NC: Concerned about Hezbollah (Iranians) coming across the border. We are now seeing tattoos in Farsi on gang members as they team up with the drug cartels. They are building effective tunnels and teaching the locals how to do it.Many terrorists go to Venezuela to learn Spanish and very few border agents can distinguish the accented Spanish. Lamar Smith, Texas: Border security=National security. 40% of illegals are visa overstayers; therefore, we need an exit strategy. In San Diego, 25 miles of double fencing is 95% effective. Worksite enforcement is down 75% since the end of the Bush administration. 500 people from 5 countries have been apprehended in the last 5 years (Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan). Another important area that needs attention is Media bias. The Media Fairness Caucus is against media bias and insists on facts so people can make up their own minds rather than being told how to think. Rep Smith thinks that the current administration does not see America as great. Todd Tiehrt, KS: Building a fence with infra red is funded and ready but is tied up in the courts. We should have a stockpile of bio shields but it remains underfunded. Rep Tiehrt is the co sponsor of several bills to protect us and all are still pending. Marcia Blackburn, TN: Sponsor of a spending bill for our troops to be passed as a clean bill with no pork. Obama administration meets once a month regarding Afghanistan. Peter King, NY: Author of HR1304 "If you see something, say something" and not get sued. Part of free speech. Michelle Bachman, MN: Who gets it? There are some that do! The problem is that those that hold the gavel control what happens. Only in the Senate can the minority party exercise any leverage. Per the State Dept, our tax money is funding 83 mosques and 9 madrassas in Afghanistan, which has Shari'a law. You can go to the State Dept website for incredible information. Also go to www.bachman.house for more info. Trent Franks: Our problem is leadership (or lack of it). The Administration is asleep at the wheel. They are against 1. Free enterprise which provides earned success and equals human happiness. 2. Erasing foundational principles. The Court is rewriting the Constitution. 3. National defense, removing troops from Europe, including missile defense systems. Jihadist ideology is worse than Nazism. Iran enriches 20% and uses plutonium which is only used for weaponry. . Pakistan's nuclear arsenal poses a danger as it could go to rogue countries. This administration has put our great country in more danger than ever before.
