Dear Friend, Imagine what would have happened if the Tulsa Police Chief ordered a Muslim police officer to attend a “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day” at a local synagogue. Not just any such “appreciation day,” but one that took place during Saturday Sabbath services, which the Muslim officer was required to observe. One that also included lectures on Jewish beliefs that the Muslim officer had to attend. Imagine what would have happened if the Muslim officer had refused and had been demoted and suspended without pay. - The ACLU would have been on the scene in a flash.
- The New York Times would have run a front page story about how the police chief’s order was not only insensitive but violated the constitutional rights of the officer. The story would have been picked up by media outlets across the country.
- The officer would have been hailed a hero on university campuses and the police chief and police department would have been vilified.
- At some point, probably very early on, the police chief would have relented—or would have been fired. The mayor would be holding news conferences assuring America that Tulsa believes in diversity and that ordering a Muslim police officer to attend such an event during the Jewish services was a mistake.
But none of this is happening for Captain Paul Fields, because here’s the politically incorrect truth: Fields refused to attend such an event, not at a synagogue or church, but at a local Islamic center tied to the Muslim Brotherhood. Our friends at The Thomas More Law Center have taken his case, and they have very good attorneys who have an excellent track record. We are therefore optimistic Captain Fields’ constitutional rights will ultimately be upheld. But who can predict how judges will rule?
In the meantime there is no New York Times coverage. No national news coverage. No ACLU. No outrage on college campuses. So it comes down to us. ACT! for America. Captain Fields’ predicament illustrates why Brigitte Gabriel founded ACT! for America. To be a voice against political correctness, radical Islam, and stealth jihad. The more people who sign our petition, the louder our voice will be when we deliver it, in this the first phase of our campaign to put pressure on the government of Tulsa to reinstate Captain Fields. If you haven’t yet done so, please sign our petition. Forward it on to others. Make your voice heard. Because if we don’t speak up, who will?
